Mental Health Matters
May is mental health awareness month. Join us for special events, education, and opportunities to support yourself and others.
At SEEK we are invested in training and moving our bodies in order to improve the way we feel on an everyday basis. We focus on physical performance and recovery, but we know that this work is inherently connected to our mental health. We believe in creating a space where you can find sanctuary every day — building strength, balance, stability, endurance, and peace in your body and mind.
In an effort to raise more awareness around mental health, and the impacts that movement have on it, we are hosting events and offering education throughout the month of May.
Within our staff of teachers we have 5 trained mental health experts. We have called on their knowledge and expertise to gather information and resources to share with you.
We look forward to supporting you and our greater community this month.
We have 4 donation based classes throughout the month to raise funding for our scholarship program. This initiative will focus on providing access to classes for those who may not otherwise be able to.
On Sunday, May 21st, we are hosting an outdoor walk/run, stretch, and meditation event in Sugarhouse park. This is a free event focused on education, awareness, and community connection.
Please read on for more information and to sign up for these events.
Throughout the month we encourage you to check in with our Instagram feed for information on mental health, movement, and community resources, curated and shared by some of our SEEK staff members who are mental health experts.
Donation classes
Having access to helpful resources can be a barrier for mental health. While we know that movement can be a very healthy way to support mental health, we also recognize that getting to a movement class here at SEEK can cost prohibitive. We truly believe in being an inclusive community space, so we have developed a Scholarship Program that offers financial support anyone interested in joining us for class who is unable to afford a pass.
The goal of these donation classes in the month of May is twofold. First, each class is free to sign up for, so if you are looking for a way to take a class without having to purchase a pass, this is a great first option. And second, we will be collecting donations for our scholarship fund before and after each of these classes, so if you can afford it and want to help someone else, this will be a great opportunity for you to do so.
