TRAIN FOR YOUR SEASON
Mountain bike training series: March 30 - April 30, 2026
Get Ride-Ready
TRAIN 2x WEEKLY FOR 5 WEEKS; TUES & THURS 7:15-8:15 AM
+ SUPPLEMENTARY STRENGTH OR YOGA CLASS EACH WEEK
WELCOME TO SPRING TRAINING AT SEEK. This 5-week training series is designed to systematically build strength, endurance, power, stability, and speed so you are prepared to ride when the trails are dry. Using personalized power metrics and structured power zone training, this progressive program develops your aerobic engine, muscular endurance, and high-output capacity required for strong road and trail performance.
Each rider will train using individualized power zones based on Functional Threshold Power (FTP), allowing for precise control of training intensity and measurable performance gains. Sessions will target specific physiological adaptations — including aerobic base development (Zones 2–3), lactate threshold improvement (Zone 4), and high-intensity power production (Zones 5–6) — to improve sustained climbing ability, repeat efforts, and overall speed.
Each 60-minute session includes approximately 40 minutes of structured indoor cycling and 20 minutes of targeted off-bike strength training. On the bike, riders will complete performance-driven interval work, cadence drills, and torque-based efforts designed to improve sustained power output, pedaling efficiency, and aerobic capacity. Following the cycling portion, you will complete focused strength training for downhill leg strength and endurance, core and upper body, developing the stability and force transfer needed for efficient riding. This off-bike work will target trunk stability, shoulder strength, and postural endurance, helping riders maintain strong positions on the bike, improve handling control, and produce power more effectively over long rides and technical terrain.
Each session builds on the last, gradually increasing training load and complexity while introducing new performance challenges and function-focused drills designed to elevate your athleticism.
Supplement your training with one additional strength or yoga class each week (included in the cost of the series) to experience a comprehensive training experience.
The Details:
This seasonal training series will be led by Cat Widner, a movement professional with over a decade of experience teaching yoga, indoor cycling, and strength training since 2013. For the past five years, she has led this specialized seasonal program, applying advanced principles of power zone training and performance development for athletes training at elevation.
Cat integrates data-driven cycling metrics with functional strength programming to build aerobic capacity, muscular endurance, neuromuscular coordination, and technical stability. As an experienced rider, she understands the physiological demands of sustained climbing, high-output intervals, and technical descents that require core control, balance, and focused decision-making. Her programming is intentionally structured to improve power production, fatigue resistance, and movement efficiency—ensuring that adaptations in the studio translate directly to performance on the trail.
Grounded in an inclusive coaching philosophy, Cat creates high-performance training environments that are both challenging and accessible. She is committed to expanding representation in endurance sports and believes strongly that all bodies belong on bikes and in fitness spaces.

IS THIS SERIES FOR YOU?
This series is designed for bike athletes of all levels, from serious riders looking to improve performance to casual cyclists preparing for a strong season. While the training is built around cycling-specific power and endurance, the structured intervals and functional strength work translate well to other endurance sports. Runners, hikers, and anyone seeking a focused, performance-driven training program will benefit from the improvements in aerobic capacity, muscular strength, and overall athletic resilience developed throughout the series.
All levels are welcome, including those looking to build a strong base of endurance. Because the program uses power zone training, intensity is based on each rider’s individual output, allowing every participant to train at the right level for their current fitness. This individualized approach makes it possible to fully customize the training experience.
